Mozi was another teacher who was very influential. Born in 476 BC, he came from a family which was very poor. He became famous for his unusual clothes and behaviour. Mozi founded the philosophy called Mohism. In some ways, his beliefs were similar to those of Confucius.For example, he considered that government was most important. As a result, he spent many years trying to find a state where people would follow his teachings. Mozi believed that all men were equal. His idea of love was different from the Confucian idea of kindness. Mozi taught that we should love all human beings and look after those who are weaker than ourselves. He hated the idea of war. Mozi died in 390 BC.

3. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
(1) Greetings.
(2) Let students enjoy a video clip from the documentary Confucius. Then ask students:
What are the beliefs of Confucius? How did he influence China?
Then tell them that Confucius has made great contributions to Chinese culture and there were many other famous persons in the Spring and Autumn period. Next, lead in the topic.
Step 2 Pre-writing
(1) Read the passage for students. Ask students to find out the main idea and underline the new words. After three minutes,invite a student to summarize the main idea: a brief introduction to Mozi.
Then write the new words on the blackboard and explain them: "philosophy" and "consider" . Show some pictures of masters of philosophy, such as Marx and Socrates, tell students that what they studied and researched is called "philosophy" .
Next, show another picture of a sculpture where a man is thinking deeply and ask students what he is doing so that students can understand "consider" is similar to "think" .And tell students that "considered" is the past tense and past participle form of"consider" .
(2) Ask students to read the passage again and find out the aspects that it mentioned and useful expressions. Five minutes later, lead students to make a conclusion: The main aspects are name, status,achievements, and beliefs. And write the
expressions on the blackboard.
(3) Divide students into groups of four and each group chooses a celebrity they know well to exchange information, such as his/her name, status, achievements, and beliefs. Seven minutes later, invite two groups to share their ideas.
Step 3 While-writing Ask students to write a passage to introduce the celebrity they discussed before in fifteen minutes and hint them that they can refer to expressions on the blackboard. Meanwhile, remind students to pay attention to the spelling, punctuation, grammar and so on.While they are writing, walk around to offer help.
Step 4 Post-writing
Ask students to self-edit their articles and then exchange with their desk mates to do peer-editing. Five minutes later, choose some representatives to share their articles and give them proper evaluations.
Step 5 Summary and homework
Summary: Choose a student to be an assistant teacher and summarize how to introduce a celebrity.
Homework: Ask students to surf the Intemet to find more information about the celebrity they have written about in class and then polish the writing.
